Kim Kardashian has decided to fall in line with the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker and Beyonce by releasing her own perfume. It seems as though this trend is definitely still going strong, though we are reaching the limit on celebrity perfumes.

Perhaps a Kardashian perfume will be the final straw in this trend that seems to have jumped the shark months ago. On the other hand celebrity perfumes are strong sellers so maybe not.

Probably not. The famous 300 actor was quoted as saying that he feels under branded and wants to launch his own fragrance to feel more competitive with other celebrities. However, Buttler is known for his tongue in cheek humor and is more than likely making light of the situation of celebrity perfumes.

Interestingly though a Gerard Butler branded cologne would probably sell quite well, so before dismissing the idea out of hand Butler may wish to give the idea a serious shake.

Kate Moss has just launched a new fragrance named Vintage that is said to be inspired by her love of vintage clothing and fashions.  Though not directly related, Moss has said that she will be developing a new line of cosmetics and hair care products to be released at around the same time as her new perfume.

This is the fourth fragrance launch from Kate, her previous fragrances: Kate, Velvet Hour, and Kate Summer Time all sold reasonably well.

Rihanna has announced that she plans to market her own signature scent following the promotion and release of her new album. The perfume is expected to launch in early 2010 and in her own words will be a “scent that no man can resist”.

In the other corner we have Peter Andre. Sometimes musician and ex-husband of Katie Price; no wonder there is a feud.

Andre is launching a perfume called “Unconditional” aptly named after the first single on his new CD. Interesting cross marketing, however here is where things begin to falter. When asked to describe his new scent he described it as smelling like Lilly Allen if she were a perfume.

The problem of course is that anyone familiar with the drunken debauchery of tabloid darling Lilly Allen probably doesn’t want to smell like her.

It’s dueling British celebs this week, and believe it or not both have a stake in the perfume business. In the first corner we have Katie Price who has gone on record stating that she doesn’t wear her own fragrances.

This is a black eye on the already flakey vogue trend of celebrity fragrances. Don’t get me wrong, some celebrity fragrances are quite good, and usually represent a good value; however it’s becoming a saturated market. Which begs the question if Miss. Price can’t even be bothered to wear her own fragrance then why should other women?

If sales figures from several leading retailers are any indication then Katie Price isn’t the only one not wearing her brand of perfume.
