Estee Lauder announced last week that it plans to close the global wholesale distribution of its Prescriptives brand by January 31, 2010. The Prescriptives fragrance Calyx, a perennial favorite among consumers, will continue to be distributed through Aramis and Designer Fragrances and sold at the fragrance bar in select department stores and online beginning February 1st. If you’re a fan of Calyx be sure to get it at a discount while you can since this move is only going to raise the price on discount websites; if not make the perfume unavailable entirely. A well known department store in Tunbridge Wells was targeted by thieves who stole over 10,000 Euros worth of name brand perfumes. Police believe the 4 men made their getaway in a stolen black BMW. I don’t know if this story is more of a reflection on the terrible economy or the out of control prices of department store perfumes. Granted burglary will always be a part of life, I operate a retail location and am not immune to thieves; however I can’t remember a recent incident where this amount of perfume was stolen.
